This is Shakuntala Sharma–she is the cousin of the groom, shopping+negotiating expert, head mistress of local primary school, single woman who owns her own car and home, and one of the most impressive women I have ever met. She began her adult life at the age of 12 as a bride (the same summer I graduated from High School at 17)–the groom was 14 years old. He was killed 3 months after their marriage and she has endured many many difficult stages of life since. I will be forever grateful for her generosity and inspiration….despite our language barriers—I understood and admired her completely.
